Software Testing Engineer
Reports to: Internal Software Development Manager
Department: Technology
Overall Purpose of Job:
Under limited supervision, providing software testing skills including the creation, execution and planning of all testing for internally and vender developed systems.
Main duties & responsibilities:
- Working closely with the development manager and the business to ensure that systems are delivered in a high quality fashion
- Responsibility for testing multiple projects in a release
- Analysing issues and identifying problems
- Troubleshooting environmental and application configuration issues
- Coordinating and communicating with other departments in Paddy Power and third party vendors
- Working in a pressurised environment to deliver quality software releases on time
- Deploying and configuring releases and troubleshooting issues as they arise
Essential Competencies:
- Release experience in a busy development environment
- Enthusiastic and structured approach to application testing
- Experienced in writing and executing test plans
- Good problem solving abilities
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to work at own initiative
- Excellent organisational and documentation skills
- Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage workload and work to exacting deadlines
Experience:
- Preferably two years experience in a similar role
- UNIX systems and RDBMS experience is an advantage
- Knowledge of sport and betting is a distinct advantage
- Knowledge of test automation tools is an advantage
Experience and or understanding of some of the following would be an advantage also:
- HTML/PHP/Java script, TCL, C/C++ or other 4GL.
